Our Responsibility? Helping You

The Ethics, Integrity, and Compliance Office exists to educate and partner with individuals across the university. We serve as a trusted resource for upholding the standards that define our community.

Transparency, proactive coaching, policy guidance, and collaboration are all part of this process. The result? A more connected, caring culture that inspires everyone on campus, from the labs of Michigan Medicine to the classrooms of Angell Hall.

Michelle Casey

Before becoming EICO, Michelle served as Executive Director of the Illinois Executive Ethics Commission, overseeing ethics for state officials, public higher education employees, and regional agencies. She earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a JD from The George Washington University Law School, and an LLM in Taxation from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.

What is the role of the Ethics, Integrity and Compliance Officer?
The Ethics, Integrity, and Compliance Officer advises the president, executive leadership, and Board of Regents on pertinent compliance matters, collaborating with key partners to develop and oversee training programs aimed at ensuring faculty and staff are well-versed on institutional policies and relevant legal standards.
